When it comes to childrens clothing quality wins over quantity every time. True for the same price as one good quality jumper for a child you could probably have 3 cheaper less well made but the question is how long will they last? Although children grow so fast it is important that they are comfortable in clothes which will last the wear and tear that all children will put them through.
The saying of you buy cheap, you buy twice is spot on. It may seem a lot of money to spend on one or two items of clothing when you could get the same for half price, but would you not rather spend the money on quality items and not have to fork out the same expense just a few weeks later when the cheaper clothes have fallen apart.
Quality will always win over cheaper alternatives as they last the pace and are better value for money
In terms of children’s clothes, there is so much on the market and it runs the gamut from the cheapest bargains to designer labels. Which you choose depends on more than just your salary.
I know mums who shop designer for their baby from the minute they are born, breaking the bank to keep them in the latest styles. They parade their children with labels attached although they look gorgeous, it all seems like a bit of ridiculous expense when the little angels have decided to wear their spaghetti or dig in the garden.
Good value quality clothing, and there is plenty of it about on the high street, seems to be the best option. A child in a growth spurt grows out of this at just the same speed that they grow out of designer labels and you are not left crying over the price tag or shoe horning them into it so ‘they get a bit more wear out of it’. Also, when they rip it or paint it, you can with a clear conscience (and presuming its not salvagable with a good dose of non-bio) throw it out or keep it for other play days that are likely to be messy.
There is of course the super-cheap stuff as well, stuff that you see and can’t believe the price of. But there is caution to be used here, you wouldn’t want your child to be wearing something that another child had suffered in appalling conditions to make.
Stick with good quality gear from high street or internet stores you can trust (and who aren’t afraid to publish their ethical policy). With all the money you save, you can afford to splash out on great designer stuff for all the family for special occasions.
The lycra jokes, the fears and the humour will always be there should you choose to wear such items. It has to be said, does anyone ever look really good in lyrca?
Consider something loose enough and unrestrictive for exercise but also go for something that makes you feel comfortable and at ease with yourself especially if the gym is a whole new experience and you are maybe not at ease with your body shape. Consider as well how hot you will get whilst working out. Go for fabric that breathes. Also consider your footwear, do not go for a fashion statement or the pair of soft shoes you may well wear for casual at the weekends, get a proper pair of training shoes that suit the sport you will be doing at the gym,
The flaunt it style is ideal for those LA gyms in the USA however I think you have to be realistic and not go for something too outlandish!
I think it all depends on how confident you are when it comes to wearing clothes to the gym, you will know what suits you and what you are happy wearing.
Going to the gym is usually about getting fitter and being comfortable is pretty important or you will more than likely get fed up and give up!
I personally like the old tracky bottoms and vest top or t-shirt. There are many options out there and lots of clothes shops and sports shops selling the clothing..even supermarkets cater for it now so you can pick something up while doing your weekly shop!
Footweartends to be trainers and again these are more affordable than they used to be, again comfort is important as you won’t want rubbed feet half way through the session!
Have a good look around and try some different items on to see what suits you best and what feels right..remember it isn’t always as expensive as it used to be so don’t let that put you off..
Happy training!
Gym clothes, these days there is so much choice on what to wear for any occasion and going to the gym is no exception. Nevermind tracksuit, t-shirt and trainers some people want to use the gym as a place to flaunt the toned bodies they have worked so hard to get and lycra, leggings and crop tops are more the order of the day.
When working out we all want to be practical but do you really need to be fully made up and dressed up to go to the gym. It may well depend on the area and type of gym that you visit but in the big cities you may well find yourself surrounded by beautiful people in designer gym wear and tight lycra and I for one would feel insecure about pounding the treadmill in a baggy grey t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.
It should really be all about what you are comfortable in but in today’s society too often everything can be more about how good you look than how good you feel. I personally wont be taking a trip to the gym in tight cycling shorts but that’s not to say I think it is wrong for others, each to their own but no lycra for me!
I am a great collecter of ‘fake’ designer handbags. I am not ashamed to admit I have 25 bags ranging from Gucci, Prada, Dior, Fendi and Chloe!! I started buying ‘fake’ bags on a trip abroad to Greece.
As soon as you start walking round the shops and markets abroad you are surrounded by sellers with all the beautiful bags you could wish for!!
I think the most I ever paid for a ‘fake’ was about £30…and that was one of the 1st I bought. Yes I will admit I thought it was a genuine Gucci and was really pleased with myself with my ‘bargain’ It wasn’t until I was nearing the end of my holiday and got talking with locals that I realised that it was fake!! But no problem.
I bought a couple more on my last day but got the price down to £5 each after a lot of talk about selling fake goods
Friends and collegues have commented on my beautiful ‘genuine expensive’ bags…and the secret is only to tell your best friend they are fakes
There are handbags out there for hundreds, even thousands of pounds. How is this sane? If I won a balenciaga or a fendi or any of the others I would just put it on ebay. I’ve no desire whatsoever to have one of these overpriced, wasteful follies dangling from my arm. Status symbol? Style statement? Work of art? Baloney. I’d get a fake.
A handbag is merely a receptacle in which to put the bits and pieces that you might need when out and about. I’d rather people noticed me than my bag.
I’m not advocating that we all adopt hessian sacks, hand woven hippie baskets or even (recently allocated anti-establishment status and therefore more contentious than fur knickers) plastic carrier bags. I’m just saying what is wrong with an ordinary £5 £10 or £15 bag from the shoe shop or high street? The owner of a fake Louis Vuitton is, in my opinion, far more sensible and savvy than the person who needs an original.
I’m not against all things designer. I can see why a £100 pair of jeans may grip your thighs in a way beyond the reach of a £3 supermarket pair. I can appreciate how a cocktail dress made from expensive fabric can hug your curves and streamline your silhouette in a manner which may just justify the 3 (or dare I say 4) figure price tag. These items work with you, become part of you. But a bag? Short of draping it ingeniously in front of your gut, I don’t see how these over priced accessories enhance you in any way. Designer bags? Get the fake and spend the extra on clothes to go with it.
I am a Prada girl through and through. I aspired to one day owning my very own Prada handbag and for my 30th birthday I was lucky enough to be given one. I love it and would say it is my most prized possession. It’s the thing I would save from a burning building,
My Prada handbag is so special it has its own bag and box that I keep it in, hidden away in the depths of my wardrobe. It gets brought out on special occasions and then packed away again at the end of the night. Although not used very often it is a timeless handbag that I know I will have with me for the rest of my life.
Im about to extend my Prada collection and by myself some lovely Prada sunglasses and no doubt these will also be given special treatment.
If I had all the money in the world imagine how many Prada handbags I could own !!
