A designer handbag:every girl’s dream

Nowadays a handbag isn’t just something you carry around to help you with your shopping, it’s something you wear when you go shopping. It is a statement, of who you are and where you’re headed.

Big, small, long, short, designer, high street… they’re are so many different types walking into the cheapest high street store is a shopper’s paradise! But with an unlimited budget a trip to a Harvey Nicks would be a must.

Do you buy Gucci-the upmarket designer label for the sophisticated lady amongst us, Dolce & Gabbana for the stylish luxury-laden woman, Chloe for the trendy fashionista, Prada for the latest must-have buy or Balenciaga for the bag that will inevitably ooze glamour.

For me, there’s only one designer that i’d fight my way to the checkout for and that’s Balenciaga-a slight newcomer in the fashion magazines thanks partly to the growing phenomenon of the WAGs but by far the best for up-to-date trends that will leave you looking fabulous all summer!

Bags of value?

Some people have the money to flaunt designer goods to the waiting paparazzi, get their photo in the magazines, for the judging eyes of the general public, and sometimes suffer the most scathing put-downs for the slightest error of judgement in choice of a simple thing like a handbag. Pity. But it’s their life, and we comfort ourselves that they chose it, and are rich enough to ignore the insults.

But if your choice of handbag is of interest to nobody but yourself, and your immediate friends, don’t allow yourself to feel like you have to follow the advice of the gossip columns and go for this season’s latest trend. Get what you like. So if a designer handbag will bring you eternal joy, brilliant, save up those pennies, and get one. But don’t expect to able to afford anything to put in it afterwards.

But personally, I can entertain the dream of an expensive item, without actually having to own it, and settle for the next level down, be it a copy, the cheaper equivalent to match the style, or the quite mundane, practical, unfashionable, ethical, whatever. I’d buy almost anything, if I knew I wasn’t simply maintaining the elaborate lifestyle of a designer. My money is more important to me than that.

But that’s just me. If you have to go designer to get a quality product for your money, then do it. Absolutely. Don’t be duped into thinking that cheap always means good value. It’s rarely true. But if you are paying a fortune, have the assertion to check you’re getting something worth having, rather than feeling you’ve bought into a fad. You want to be able to show off your handbag in the best society and feel amazing, for more than a week. And then rediscover it in a wardrobe in a decade or so, and find that you have a vintage classic on your hands. Or sell it, get back some of what you paid, and move on to your next conquest.

Watch out for scammers though. Pirate goods are big business these days. Unless you really know your market, it’s easy to be caught out, so be careful. Always get what you paid for. It’s your right as a person. And really annoying if you don’t. It is, however, a good topic for a rant down the pub!

Collector of Fake

I am a great collecter of ‘fake’ designer handbags. I am not ashamed to admit I have 25 bags ranging from Gucci, Prada, Dior, Fendi and Chloe!! I started buying ‘fake’ bags on a trip abroad to Greece.
As soon as you start walking round the shops and markets abroad you are surrounded by sellers with all the beautiful bags you could wish for!!
I think the most I ever paid for a ‘fake’ was about £30…and that was one of the 1st I bought. Yes I will admit I thought it was a genuine Gucci and was really pleased with myself with my ‘bargain’ It wasn’t until I was nearing the end of my holiday and got talking with locals that I realised that it was fake!! But no problem.
I bought a couple more on my last day but got the price down to £5 each after a lot of talk about selling fake goods :)
Friends and collegues have commented on my beautiful ‘genuine expensive’ bags…and the secret is only to tell your best friend they are fakes :)

Accessorised to perfection

As a person who likes a bargain i can understand the temptation to buy a fake version of the latest designer celebrity must have You can get the same look at a fraction of the price for an original.

When you purchase a fake it often appears the same at a glance, closer inspection will always show why it a fraction of the price, they are quite often badly made with bad stitching, faulty zips and will quite often not last for long.

There is also the fake trade to be concerned about, often these bags are produced from very cheap labour in some foreign country.I would feel uncomfortable therefore to purchase a fake for the aforementioned reasons. As most pockets will not stretch to the designer price many people will buy the fakes.

I would prefer to purchase a good quality and reasonably priced handbag from the high street.and lets face it , the celeb bag of the day will be different next month and who really wants to blow over £800 on something that’s quickly out of fashion.
